People’s Party “Independence Day” Raises the People’s Economy

To celebrate Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day and support local MSMEs, Yayasan Pondok Kasih and Pedalindo organized the “August Merdeka” Bazaar. Held every Saturday and Sunday in August 2024 (3-4, 10-11, 17-18, 24-25), the event features MSMEs from Pondok Kasih, Sukolilo District, and Pedalindo members from Surabaya and Sidoarjo. It is supported by Cleo, VIVA Cosmetics, and Sukolilo MSMEs.

We thank Agus Imam Sonhaji (Surabaya’s Economic & Development Affairs Assistant), Kompol I Made Patera Negara (Sukolilo Police Chief) and his team, Hana Amalia Vandayani (Pondok Kasih Founder), Junius Bram Buntaran (Pedalindo Founder), Panca Windyawati (DPP PEDALINDO Chairwoman), and Linda Moejito (Head of Sukolilo MSMEs) for their support.

Visitors described the event as “inspiration and entertainment combined.” Activities included healthy gymnastics, children’s competitions, makeup contests, free health checks, affordable groceries, live music, and performances by Pondok Kasih Children’s Home.

On August 17, a Flag Raising Ceremony marked Independence Day. This initiative highlights Pondok Kasih’s dedication to community welfare. Through this bazaar, we aim to strengthen the local economy and benefit all participants. (MH).
