Crossing Distances, Building the Future: The Light of Education from a Village in the Land of North Sumatra
Indonesia is rich in natural and human resources, with 38 provinces, 17,001 islands, and 284 million people (as of March 2025). However, it faces three key interconnected challenges: the economy, health, and education, which need urgent attention. In education, issues like high costs, inadequate facilities, family problems, environmental factors, and a significant urban-rural gap in quality and access remain critical. The "Pencerdasan Anak Bangsa" program seeks to improve children’s intelligence and morals through structured, integrated efforts, engaging both the government and private sector to address these challenges.

Yayasan Pondok Kasih Sumatera Zone brings hope through the Pencerdasan Anak Bangsa (PAB) program, reaching 900 children monthly in 11 remote villages in Simalungun, Dairi, and surrounding areas.

Through Rumah Pintar, Mobil Pintar, and Kapal Pintar, they bring hope to children. Mrs. Nelsy Tondang and volunteers deliver education to remote areas despite challenges. Lessons in reading, writing, math, culture, and languages inspire children. Pondok Kasih also teaches healthy habits and tackles issues like smoking, bullying, and technology misuse. Every child’s smile shows a brighter future and the promise of change.

Pondok Kasih Sumatera Zone not only teaches lessons but also instills values of life, hope, and love in children. This program shows that with compassion and dedication, big dreams can come true. It is a step toward building a brighter future for Indonesia. (MH).
