Easter Celebration of the Pre-Prosperous Community: Christ’s Resurrection Brings Hope and Unity

The theme of this year’s Easter celebration for the underprivileged community is “Christ’s Resurrection Brings Hope and Unity.” This celebration is organized as an expression of care by the Pondok Kasih Foundation (YPK), with full support from the Bethel Tabernacle of the Merciful Christ Church (GBT-KP), for the underprivileged communities under YPK’s care. The event took place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at GBT-KP Surabaya, with the aim of strengthening faith, deepening fellowship, and fostering new hope for those in need.Paskah-Komunitas-Prasejahtera-1.jpegThe event was attended by more than 700 community members, both adults and children. The presence of interfaith leaders served as a tangible symbol of unity and tolerance among people of different faiths. Additionally, representatives from the Mayor of Surabaya, the East Java Police Chief, and the East Java Christian Community Affairs Office were in attendance, providing meaningful moral support to the community. Praise performances by the Gift Choir of STT Tabernakel Indonesia (STTIA), House of Glory (HoG) of Bethany Church in Sidoarjo, and an inspirational drama presented by the staff of Pondok Kasih added to the festive atmosphere. The message of resurrection and the interfaith prayer further strengthened the participants’ spirits.Paskah-Komunitas-Prasejahtera-2.jpegIn her remarks, Indah Wati, B.A. (Chair of YPK) said, “Easter is a celebration of Christ’s resurrection, a testament to love and hope for all of us. The presence of leaders from diverse backgrounds embodies unity amidst our differences,” Indah explained enthusiastically. Ruth Kristiani (GBT-KP Pastoral Team) said, “The Easter theme reminds us that there is always hope, while also strengthening unity for the nation’s future,” stated Ruth. Dr. Luki Krispriyanto, S.Th., M.Pd. (Christian Affairs Officer for East Java) noted that “Easter serves as a reminder that restoration is always possible, even for those struggling economically. “The Pondok Kasih Foundation reflects God’s heart that stands with the vulnerable,” said Dr. Luki. Drs. Dedik Irianto, M.M. (Legal Advisor to the Mayor of Surabaya) stated, “High appreciation for YPK for actively supporting the City of Surabaya’s programs,” said Dedik. Commissioner of Police Agusman Gurning, S.I.K., S.H., M.H. (Head of the Information and Communication Technology Division, East Java Regional Police) stated that “Easter reminds us that in every problem, we are not alone—God is with us, and we are all one big family,” emphasized Agusman Gurning.Paskah-Komunitas-Prasejahtera-5.jpegAs a tangible expression of care, YPK, together with GBT-KP, distributed 700 food packages to all members of the community. This serves as proof of YPK’s commitment to supporting underprivileged communities, while reinforcing the message that Christ’s resurrection brings new hope. Through this celebration, Pondok Kasih hopes that more organizations and individuals will be inspired to offer care, support, and love to those in need. May the spirit of Christ’s resurrection continue to be a source of inspiration for all in building a better life. (MH).
