Collaboration to Preserve Culture: Taman Bhinneka as a Symbol of Unity and Creativity
The presence of Taman Bhinneka Nusantara Creativity Center (NCC) is an important moment for Surabaya and East Java. On Thursday, May 15, 2025, a coordination and technical meeting was held to prepare for the inauguration of the NCC in the Pancasila Room, Graha Pondok Kasih, Medokan Keputih, Surabaya. The event initiated by Pondok Kasih Foundation (YPK) was attended by various parties, namely: representatives of the East Java National Unity and Politics Agency (Bakesbangpol), the East Java Nationality Blending Forum (FPK), the East Java Religious Communication Forum (FKUB) and the Beda but Mesra Forum (FBM). The founder and Chairperson of the YPK Board of Trustees as well as the initiator of the NCC, Dr. Hana Amalia Vandayani or Mama Hana, stated that “Taman Bhinneka is a legacy for Indonesia, especially East Java. This place aims to preserve and develop the arts and culture of the archipelago, increase public awareness, and strengthen tolerance and unity. In addition, the NCC will provide education and training spaces, support entrepreneurship and urban agriculture and become a platform for local MSMEs,” Mama Hana explained. The inauguration of the NCC is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, 2025, which was directly inaugurated by the Governor of East Java, Mrs. Khofifah Indar Parawansa.

Indah Wati, B.A., Chairperson of YPK explained that the NCC is designed as an education and cultural tourism center with nine miniature traditional houses representing various regions of Indonesia. South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara and Papua represent Eastern Indonesia, while West Sumatra, Central Kalimantan, Bali and Java represent Western Indonesia. In addition, the park also features seven Interfaith Libraries as a symbol of interfaith harmony. “We want to provide an educational space for children and visitors to get to know more about cultures, customs and beliefs in Indonesia,” said Indah.

The Chairman of the East Java FPK, R. H. Mohammad Ali Zaini, welcomed the initiative and expressed the FPK's readiness to participate in the inauguration of the park. “Taman Bhinneka is not just a tourist spot, but also an educational destination that strengthens harmony and integration between cultures and beliefs in East Java,” said Ali Zaini. In line with that, the Head of the East Java Division of Ideology, National Insight and National Character (Bakesbangpol), Dian Puspitasari H., S.STP., M.A., appreciated the synergy of various parties in supporting this inauguration. “We really appreciate the good cooperation of various organizations such as FPK, FBM, FKUB, and especially the Pondok Kasih Foundation. Hopefully the inauguration of this park will run smoothly and bring great benefits to the community,” Dian said.

With the support of various elements, the inauguration of the NCC is expected to be a milestone in strengthening the value of diversity, culture, education and the economy of the community. (MH).
