Education for All: Pondok Kasih Foundation Brings Learning Opportunities to the Underprivileged in the Sitaro Islands.
Education builds equitable, empowered societies, reduces inequality, and prepares resilient generations for global challenges. To support underprivileged communities, Pondok Kasih Foundation has introduced its Mobil Pintar (Smart Car) program in North Sulawesi's Sitaro Islands Regency. As part of the National Program for the Intelligence of the Nation's Children (PAB), the initiative has provided learning resources to six villages: Batu Senggo, Beong, Mini, Sawang, Pehe, and Lehi.
Starting March 2025, Mobil Pintar (Smart Car) Sitaro will expand its services to North Minahasa Regency and Manado City through quarterly visits, offering learning classes in villages and elementary schools. The program uses the engaging ‘Learn & Play’ method, often held outdoors for an interactive and enjoyable experience. Children learn basic skills such as reading, writing, counting, drawing, and English, along with character-building lessons. Each session also provides nutritional support, including milk, to promote their healthy development.
In just a year and a half, the Mobil Pintar (Smart Car) Sitaro program has successfully reached 7,881 children in Indonesia’s outer islands near the Southern Philippines, covering 10 sub-districts and 29 villages across Sitaro and Sangihe Regencies. The program is supported by four permanent teachers and three volunteers who teach in Indonesian and English, boosting the children’s enthusiasm for learning.
